The flowers are blooming and spring time fashion trends are emerging. It’s refreshing to start peeling back the layers and stepping out in spring styles. We’re taking a look at some of our favorite trends & pairing them with our favorite spring time TRAY6 accessories.
Polka Dots + Peplum Tops + Pastels: The peplum is queen. You’re seeing peplums on tops, skirts, dresses & more and we love it! We are also having a bit of a love affair with the polka-dot this season. These dainty dots class up any outfit and can go from day to night with the flick of a wrist. Adorn that wrist with our grass green carry all and you have a place to store all your spring time fashion accessories. Oh-la-la.

&
Pastels + Corals: Coral is all the rage in fashion right now. It’s popping (literally) out everywhere. When you pair this show stopping color with a collection of pastels (like soft butter yellow and silky blue) you a guaranteed one great outfit. Top it off with sunny yellow accessories, like our yellow tulip travel umbrella, and you’re ready for a day on the town.

&
Tribal Prints + Big Jewels: We’re seeing tribal prints every which way we turn and they’re making quite the statement. Pair them with statement jewelry & you’ve really got something to say! We love the blending of all the colors & designs and we heart pairing with our little olive clutch bag to cap off your look.

May 6th was the Met Gala and there were some fashion trends to behold! We recapping our favorite looks & pairing them with some of our favorite accessories. Check out our thoughts on some of the celebrities fashion choices.
Miley Cyrus received a little bit of shade for re-wearing a dress that Kate Moss already sported, but this little punky pop singer made it work for her. We’re pairing this fishnet number with our favorite chainlink fullsize umbrella. Something tells us Miley would dig it!
+

Dylan Lauren shied away from darker colors (we like it!) and chose to go with a white & gold number for the PUNK show this year. We love the gold accents along the sleeves and we would totally pair this beauty with our grass gold compact umbrella. A very Midas look indeed.
+
Kirsten Dunst went for an interesting punk ensemble for this year’s gala. Girl was not afraid of some feathers – but we think the dress is really working for her. A little bit of chaos among beauty. We would totally pair our green geo compact umbrella with her look. We think everyone would just be green with envy!
+

Our final wild child fashion write up goes to the always trend-pushing Ashley Olsen and her orange number. The dress seems like the perfect burst of bright color on a night full of a little of black dresses. We like that she’s not afraid to push the envelope and we would totally pair this little firecracker with our brushwood orange travel umbrella. Ashley could even store it in one of those sleeves of hers!

Tell us who your fashion favorites are from this year’s Met Gala! Did we miss any major trend-setters or trend-topplers? You tell us!

With spring in full bloom, that means it’s horse racing season all over the country. We love the festiveness that goes into putting together a derby outfit and we’ve put together our derby looks for 2013 below.
Nudes, browns & golds will be huge at this year’s derby. While keeping the shift dress simple, it’s good to gold bold with metallic accessories such as the sturdy fullsize gold blur umbrella (to shield from the harsh race day sun!) and gold stacked bracelets. Keeping the shoes as an understated accessory ties the look together and let’s everyone focus on the fabulous hat.
Our dashing derby look goes for a bit more flare with bold poppy red accessories such as a red facisnator headband and an adorable red clutch purse. The patterned print on the dress allows so simple accessories like a gold and black necklace and simple wedges shoes.
Our delightful derby look encompasses all our favorite elements of spring. A bright yellow dress gives off a sunshine like vibe when paired with a simple pair of brown sandals and a brown straw hat. A little yellow crossbody bag over the shoulder to store your race day program is the perfect way to cap off the outfit!
What will you be wearing the derby this year?

At TRAY6 we believe in high fashion & high function when it comes to umbrella design. However, we’ve come across some interesting umbrella designs out there in the world. Some are quite funny. Some leave us scratching our heads. See for yourself.
Tandem Umbrella
Do you have a significant other that you find yourself the need to share your umbrella with? Why not take a note from designer Jasmine Rasnahan and enjoy this tandem black umbrella! Perfect for a romantic stroll in the rain.
White Cloud Umbrella
Want to blend in with the rainy day around you? Why not have this inflatable white cloud umbrella designed by Joonsoo Kim. While a cute rain umbrella – better hope for no sudden rain storms because this unique umbrella requires inflation for each use.
Black Golf Club Umbrella
Do you find yourself in the mood to hit golf balls of the tee every time it rains? Well this interesting umbrella has two features. When not in use as a basic black umbrella, you can whip it around and whack a few balls. Perfect for all your country club pals.
Samurai Sword Umbrella
Find yourself in the need to dual during a downpour? Well this umbrella tends to fool passerby’s into thinking you’re toting a samurai sword based on its sword like handle. Probably not the umbrella to tote through security at the airport!

The Pop Pop Bang Bang Project is the brainchild of photographer Thomas Brown & creative director Anna Burns. While the exhibit focuses on exploring the masculine world of B-Movies and juxtaposed it with on traditional British landscape, we were immediately drawn to the project for the artist’s use of umbrellas as a medium. The project is currently on display at Mother agency in east London. The artist used umbrellas to recreate scenes that are highly popular in B-Movies – such as car explosions and guns.

They also created put together a video of the umbrellas in action. You can see the video & read a bit more about the project here. Be warned that the video does contain some adult content that the artist’s incorporated into their homage to B-movies.
You can find more information on the artists & this project at www.thomasbrown.info – www.annaburns.net & www.motherlondon.com.

It’s hard to believe another inauguration has come & gone! President Obama was sworn in for another 4 years of office as the POTUS and everyone who was anyone was there in attendance. Amidst the crowds we spotted several exciting fashion trends! We’re taking a look at what was hot on such a cold, cold day & which stylish TRAY6 umbrella they could have been toting along with them. The Obama family was at the height of style with the youngest Obama girls wearing coats by J.Crew & Kate Spade in gorgeous shades of plum & regency purple.

We’re thankful it didn’t rain on the big celebration, but we do know we have some fabulous umbrellas that could be paired with each of Obama’s favorite gals! Malia sported a very rich plum coat in the chilly air and we know it would have pair fabulously with our travel size daisy plum umbrella. She could have tucked it right into her pocket! And Sasha would have looked dashing under our squire blue compact folding umbrella. With it’s hook handle, she could have easily draped it over her wrist for easy transport.

+

Some other famous faces that attended the inauguration included Beyonce & husband Jay-Z. Both looked fetching in sleek black attire which would have gone perfectly with one of our favorite large umbrellas. Just enough room for two under our full-size black chain link umbrella.

+

Kelly Clarkson looked adorable in her burgundy plum coat. She would have looked even more stylish tucked under our medium compact flower print folding umbrella to keep her curls dry & extra bouncy!
